La Fatarella (Terra Alta, Catalonia) - July 2007

Organized by obre't'ebre, together with the Foundation El Sola, the youth association of the friends of the culture of la Fatarella and the city council of La Fatarella, it took place between the 1st and the 15th of July 2007. Youngsters between 18 and 25 years old, coming from Korea, Germany, France, Russia, Turkey and Austria have participated in the work camp. The main objective was the restoration of the heritage of dry stone, restoring the path of the hill of Mirafont and a retaining wall of a bank. On the afternoon, excursions were programmed in order to know the surroundings of the village, its culture and the agriculture of the region, but also workshops of “caps-grossos” restoring and masks realization, and traditional games and dances.

I’ve learned about the Catalan culture, and about stones in general, concretely about dry-stone walls, dry-stone paths, dry-stone water pipes, dry-stone mills and dry-stone houses. Thanks a lot!””
